Measurement Canada recognizes the new design of the Seraphin® VRP® (Patent Pending) Prover for vapor loss during inspection By: Jack Nowicki

The following design elements and characteristics of the graduated neck bottom drain Seraphin® VRP™ prover provides the following features:
- The prover is equipped with a bottom drain 20-L or 5-gallon volume standard
- The outlet of the volume standard is attached to a holding tank
- A cap is mounted on the neck of the standard that creates a seal around the dispenser nozzle as the prover is filled and drained
- A vent line is fitted from the top of the prover to the product holding tank on which the prover is mounted
- The volume standard, holding tank and vent line configuration is such that when the prover is drained, the air in the storage tank, which is saturated with gasoline vapor, is drawn through the vent line into the prover, thereby maintaining a saturated environment within the prover.
This meets the objectives of Measurement Canada to minimize the vaporization of gasoline during the inspection of a retail fuel dispenser.
A letter from Measurement Canada is available to confirm that the new prover design for the Seraphin® VRP™ adequately addresses vapor loss during retail fuel dispenser inspection for Canadian petroleum dispensers. |
